Our story · Bana

A small atelier with a long view

Bana makes a short list of handbags and keeps it short on purpose. We would rather perfect ten bags than offer a hundred.

Founded on a single idea: a handbag should get better the longer you carry it.

The beginning

How it started

Bana began with a bag that outlived three owners. It was a plain tan satchel that had been carried to work, to school, and finally to the market, and it looked better with every scuff.

We asked a simple question: why do so few bags get the chance to age like that? Most are made to look perfect on day one and tired by year two.

So we set out to make the opposite: a short list of handbags, in leather chosen to improve with use, sewn by one maker, and repaired for life.

Craftsmanship

The craft

Every Bana bag passes through the same hands from the first cut to the last polish. It takes a little over a day of work, spread across a week so the glue, the paint and the leather can rest.

  • Hardware that lasts

Solid brass, brushed gold, set by hand and replaceable.

  • Made to be repaired

Hand stitching means a seam can always be reopened and renewed.

Mission

To make a small number of beautiful, honest handbags, and to stand behind every one of them for as long as you carry it.

Vision

A wardrobe with fewer, better things in it: bags that become heirlooms, repaired and handed down instead of replaced.

What we stand for

Every design starts with a question: will someone still want to carry this in ten years? If the answer is not an easy yes, it does not leave the sketchbook.

We work with Italian tanneries that use vegetable tanning, which gives leather a warm, natural colour and a surface that deepens with use. We pair it with solid brass hardware, plated in brushed gold, because it lasts and it can be repaired.

Our bags are made in small batches by a small team, and we deliver them ourselves across Lebanon through a trusted courier. You pay cash when the bag arrives: you see it, you hold it, and then you pay.
